Accomplishments
Last few years
In 1999, I was invited to set-up a Microsoft Navision
department at an important IBM partner for high-end HW systems
and systems integration. Built a team of highly skilled
developers and consultants. Together we implemented
efficient internal processes with high emphasis on quality
and easy maintainability of developed solutions. All
development was done using single central database that included
customizations for all our customers. This enabled us to
easily maintain our common add-on modules as a single code
base across all our implementations. By having upgrade in
mind when customizing standard Microsoft Navision solution,
we were able to perform upgrades quickly (and profitably)
with no distraction to customers business.
In 2003, performed an analysis and design of information
system for a newspaper publishing company. Successfully
re-engineered and automated many core business processes.
Re-engineered product pricing by reducing case-by-case
prices to less than 15 advanced pricing rules, and automated
ads order quoting based on the ad data already available in
the system. Automated distribution route planning and
introduced delivery tracking on a publication level.
Prepared functional specifications and prototype solution
for localization of Microsoft Navision when my country
joined EU. Due to circumstances Microsoft asked me to
develop official localization which was needed by customers
and partners.
In 2004, I was asked by Microsoft to conduct an
implementation review for an important Microsoft Navision
implementation. By helping partner solve customization and
functionality issues, customer regained trust in the
solution. Within three weeks of my engagement,
customer-partner relationship improved and requested partner
change wasn't carried out.
Latter that year I was hired by Microsoft to "rescue"
big banking implementation and get it back on track (160
concurrent users in more than fifteen locations). Worked
with a team of eight consultants and ten developers.
Designed and developed deep-level posting customizations in
areas of Inventory, Purchasing and Jobs/Projects. Worked
with the Board and Executive Management in stabilizing
political issues between management and the consultants.
Worked with the customer and partner on solving project
management and implementation issues. Asked by the bank and
Microsoft to stay on the project as project coordinator.
In 2005 helped Microsoft with
localizing Slovenian version of Navision.
In 2006
Microsoft invited me to participate at writing of an upgrade
best practices whitepaper for Navision.
Microsoft also asked me to prepare a
Navision upgrade training. I don't like those trainings
where you just follow simple example. I did something
different. I asked participants to bring their own databases
and follow the example on them! After 3 days, more than 50%
of them upgraded their customer's database!

My "earlier" years
Successfully completed full-scale implementation of
pension fund IS, replacing their legacy system. Designed and
developed all data conversions from legacy systems. Single
handily implemented the solution including complete actuary
module for instant actuary calculations.
Developed solution for analyzing sales data for a major
pharmaceutical company (now owned by Novartis). By working
closely with upper management, solution provided them with
instant information about their sales. Being able to setup
their own view of multi-dimensional data and drill-down to
required level, management was able to make informed
decisions which helped them in wining their battle for
number 1 pharmaceutical company in country.
Designed and developed General Ledger for large insurance
company. Being part of large enterprise development team
early in my career gave me an opportunity to gather
important experience in developing and implementing large
information systems. |
